Muslims :Minority Or Majority

This struck me a couple of days back when after an exhausting day in office I switched on to CNN IBN for daily news dose. Some high court in UP had ruled that Muslims in UP are no longer a minority and thus the special status provided to them was being revoked. I felt that I had been hit by a stone after hearing this news. In a state where caste politics is the major factor for any political party's victory or debacle in election, such sort of ruling could have come at no worse time, with elections barely 3 days away. However the High court sensed its mistake in good time and the ruling was stayed within a day. Thanks God !! (Allah or Ram is same for me). "Minority appeasement" and "Minority bashing" are the two sides of the same coin. I heard a learned person saying this to criticize most the political parties who indulge in them to en cash the so called Muslim or Hindu vote bank.
Suddenly what flashes in my mind is a scene from a hindi movie called Krantiveer where Nana Patekar tries to show to a crowd burning in Hindu-Muslim riots what a person actually is. He is not a Muslim..He is not a Hindu..He is a human first. When God has not made any difference ( even the blood is same!!) who are we to segregate the society by religion. The effect of this scene is beyond my description. I wish people and especially politicians can understand this. If we can overcome this religion divide I am pretty sure our society can be a much better place to live in.
To finish this I vaguely remember the time when the Babri Masjid was demolished and the Kar Sevaks were demanding a Ram Mandir to be bulit in that place, I and a friend of mine (I think Atif Kareem) sitting in class 3-C came to a judicious conclusion that instead of a Mandir or a Masjid the govt should build a Hospital there. 15 years have passed since and the desire is still unfulfilled.
